About Born To Ride
We believe in these kids.
Born To Ride exists to create safe, welcoming opportunities for youth through skateboarding, mentorship, faith, and community - Serving Pleasanton, Texas and surrounding communities.
Skateboarding: Enabling young people to take control
Skateboarders have been looked at as troubled, hyper, misunderstood kids. In reality, these kids are creative, determined, critical thinkers, coordinated, and problem solvers. There is something special about this group. The skateboarding community demonstrates teamwork, talent, dedication, loyalty, and respect.
Founded in 2023
Born To Ride was founded in 2023 by Bob “The Byrdman” Byrd. The name came from Bob’s heart for kids and skateboarding — he simply liked the idea that kids ride skateboards and wanted the name to reflect that spirit.
Since then, Born To Ride has continued growing from an idea into a real skatepark ministry. Major milestones include creating the skatepark, expanding into a second phase with a larger park area and pavilion, and adding a bowl that is expected to be completed in June 2026.
The next vision is to continue expanding skate opportunities around the park, including future street-style skating features.

BYRDMAN STORY

My name is Bob Byrd and I would like to share with you a critical time in my life. The early teens into the twenties were without a moral compass or any sense of parental guidance. My values were taught by the kids I was running with and my desire to be cool led to a wild life without purpose. Being 16 and without direction, I was a funky kid going 150 mph down a cul-de-sac going nowhere but hoping to find a purpose for living. Fast forward to age 24, when I found what I was looking for in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I discovered my purpose. At 91, He is helping me live out that purpose. ‘God is my strength and He makes my way perfect.’ God has given me a deep love and compassion for this future generation of kids with Born to Ride Skatepark ministry. I would like to see them become godly examples for others to follow.
